A vegan version of the kind of cookies that Grandma used to make. Serve with a big cold glass of soy milk. (This recipe is from the cookbook "How It All Vegan.")

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the sweetener, margarine, oil, water, and vanilla.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the margarine mixture and the chocolate chips and mix together well.
  5. Scoop spoon-sized portions onto an unoiled cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are browned.
  6. Let cool before removing from cookie sheet.

I have this cookbokk, "How It All Vegan" and I have made thes cookies several times. I came on to this site to post this recipes for other vegans because it is SOOOO good. It is exactly like the wonderful toll house cookies my gradmother used to make, and the recipe is quick and easy. I like to shape the dough into about 8 large cookies like you would get at a bakery or coffee shop, rather then the standard size. Thank you for posting this great recipe.

I just made these with my 4yr old daughter who has an egg allergy. They were great and she could lick the bowl out too! My husband & son loved them as well. The recipe made 22 good-sized cookies.
