Sorry, but I did not like this recipe. I was very interested in using this recipe and followed it with no variation. But with these ingredients combined it had a taste that was, to me, odd. Perhaps I used a weird & different sauce or somehow botched it up (only human!).
Looking for an alternative to lasagna. Was watching the Sopranos and heard them talking about baked ziti. This recipe is excellent. Definitely will make again.
This recipe doesn't need another review but here I go!!! I made this for a friend & they just loved it. I used lean ground turkey (1 1/4 lbs), 1/2 cup onion & added some Italian seasoning along with the oregano. I thought about reducing the amount of broth but it was perfect. I needed about 3 cups of cheese & used 1/2 cup parmesan cheese (total). She requested the recipe & I will gladly pass it onto her! Thanks so much for the detailed instructions, too--I had never made ziti before!
This is delicious. It hit the spot after a great day of skiing and boarding. I made it as written, but will probably tart it up with sliced mushrooms next time I make it.
How much mozzarella total for this recipe? There is no total amount listed.
Absolutely amazing! My father even loves it and he is an extremely hard person to please. I did what someone else suggested and used a 24 oz. jar of tomato sauce and added an 8 oz can of tomato paste. I didn't have garlic cloves so I used 1 TBS. of garlic powder, I would have used more but my father doesn't like too much garlic. This dish makes plenty and everyone had seconds on the first and second day.
This recipe is more than the sum of its parts. The ingredients are few and simple and the result is wonderful. I used penne rigate and Costco's Kirkland Marinara sauce is 32 oz so it worked out perfectly. I've made it many times and once I upped the quantity of meat and it didn't taste as good. The proportions in the recipe are perfect!
When re-heating the next day, I add a splash of milk to keep it from drying out in the microwave and it works perfectly. Just a Tbl or so per serving.
I should've thanked you long ago for posting this, we've had it many times.
