This is the ULTIMATE breakfast/snacking toast! The key is to use lots of margarine, and spread it on while the toast is hot. I think I quite possibly could eat a whole loaf of bread this way! Although I usually prefer to use wheat bread in recipes, this one is definitely better with white bread! Have been eating this since I was a wee one, and have no plans of ever stopping!! Thanks for posting ~Manda
It's so simple but so good. Thanks Darlene :) Made for All you can cook buffet
You rock Darlene! I haven't had this since I was a kid, yum! I'm out of breakfast food and wanted to eat something before I head to the grocery store (hungry and the grocery store don't mix well). I did have bread and the condiments. Thanks for reminding be of this treat!
Wow, what a find. I haven't thought of making this in years. My mother and grandmother used to make cinnamon toast regularly as a snack or to tide us over before it was meal time. It's awesome anytime. Now that my memory has been refreshed, I will be making this for my own grandchildren. Thanks for putting this out there for many of us to recollect childhood memories of a simple treat that put a smile on my sisters, brother and my face. YUMMY!
This takes me back!! Love it!
My grandmother actually used to make this for us for breakfast when we stayed the night at her house. She always used cracked wheat bread, so when I tried making it myself at home, it was just never the same with the white bread we always bought! So I definitely recommend using whole wheat! I have actually just made this a few times recently using whole wheat English muffins, and it is quite tasty that way too :)
My kids loved this recipe. I encouraged my 10 year old daughter to help make it so on days I'm working she can make it by herself. They said they would rather have this Cinnamon toast than the Cinna-Minnies at that fast food place their dad takes them. Cheaper too!!
I so made this a couple of nights ago!! I was just randomly craving cinnamon toast. I remember making this when I was like 8. It was in my Polly Pocket cookbook.
