This is the best cinnamon bread you can find. The smell in the house while it is cooking is enough to drive you crazy. It is so moist and delicious. The kids love to have this waiting for after school snack or breakfast or dinner.

This has been my basic cinnamon bread recipe for years. I do make a few slight changes and use 1/2 butter rather than all shortening. Seems to give it more flavor and a better texture. I also cut back on the baking soda to 1/2 tsp. It is an almost failproof recipe and keeps very well.SORRY I made an error in the baking soda amount. Should read 1 tsp.

A waste of good ingredents. It's like a wet cake, not bready at all. Fell apart as soon as the knife hit it. No need for a fork, just spoon up the pieces!

I love baking with buttermilk, always great results. This is a very good recipe. This made alot of batter,I'd say this makes 2 loaves as I had extra after filling one and filling two mini-loaf pans. All ran over in the oven, rising fabulously but dripping on oven bottom and burning,so I'd say this makes 2 reg.loaf pans.I used veg.shortening.This could be a good basic buttermilk quick bread batter that you could omit cinnamon and add berries etc.I think this recipe with cinnamon would also be good with almond extract too.I added butterscotch chips to the tops of mini-loaves and that was tasty.Anyways very pleased with results despite having to clean oven afterwards!
