These were so good! My husband doesn't care for muffins, and he said they were delicious! I only got 10 small muffins, so maybe next time I would update the recipe to make 16, and probably end up with 12 good size ones. They were light, and not too sweet. Very good!

I had a craving for muffins this morning and discovered your recipe. I'm so glad I did because these muffins just hit the spot. Delightful, light and just the right amount of sweetness. I added just a touch more sugar to the mix because I have a sweet tooth. I'm headed back for another right now! Thank you, Charlotte for a wonderful breakfast!

These muffins were delicious! Moist and very tasty! I didn't have the allspice so I had to omit it - but they still tasted great! Had to bake mine for a little longer. Next time I may add some chopped up walnuts or pecans for a change. Really great! This one is a keeper! Thanks Charlotte.

These are awesome muffins!! The perfect get your day started off right breakfast. They had a delicious spiced flavor and we loved the cinnamon-sugar topping. I served with steaming hot Mexican hot chocolate. Thanks Charlotte J, for another great recipe.

Yum! I added about a cup of finely chopped apples because my boyfriend adores fruit muffins. Sooo good. I love the topping! These make me feel all warm and cozy!

Delicious muffins! I took the advice of leeannr and had the recipe resized to 16. It made 11 big ones! I didn't have allspice, so I substituted with a big dash of cinnamon. I also added an extra 1/8 cup sugar, just because :) Thanks for the great recipe!

We like muffins and I make them fairly often so I am always looking for a good recipe. We loved your muffins. Our breakfast table was nice and cozy and these muffins really hit the spot with a mug of hot coffee.

I mixed this one up but didn't have nearly enough to satisfy our little brood. I doubled it and it made 12 of the biggest, yummiest muffins. The kids just inhaled these. Thanks!

These muffins are wonderful, very reminiscent of an old fashioned cake donut. I am very impressed with them and will definitly be making them again. I doubled the recipe and at the end, melted the butter in one bowl, and put the cinnamon sugar in another. I then rolled the muffin tops in the butter and then the sugar. It worked out perfectly. Thanks for a great recipe.

These were a little dry and crumbly, but the flavor was good. Might use oil instead of butter next time to moisten them up. Also, I took another reviewer's advice and added 1/2 tsp each of cinnamon and vanilla. We didn't care for the allspice flavor so, I'll leave that out next time.

These are delightful! I was hesetent to make these at first because of a few bad comments, but I'm so glad I made them. They are so delicious with butter. Its hard to eat only one! (They're also extremely easy to make, it took 10 minutes for me to make the batter, which is record time. Thanks for posting, Charlotte!

These muffins were a cross between a cookie and cornbread....texture wise. The outside was that of a cookie and the middle had an under taste (and texture) of cornbread. I now see why people add s many extra ingredients to this reipe. I added cinnamon and vanilla extract directly to the batch and got a a punch of flavor that I KNOW I would nt have gotten had I used the recipe as is.

The muffin wasn't ry, but it certainly wasn't moist either. It was on the verge of being dry. Those who find this recipe not as flavorful shuld add the nutmeg and allspice along with 1/2 tsp of cinnamon an 1/2 tsp of vanilla to the batter. THis makes the muffin a lot swetter and with more flavor and you will also not have to drizzle the topping mixture on.

I also left these in for 15 minutes and nt the advised 20. I dont know. My kids liked them because they remined them of gingerbread cookies, but I really would prefer something more moist with an actual muffin/cupcake texture. Good but not great....as some one else said.

Probably wont remake this one again.

I love these muffins!! I was searching for some muffins with cinnamon in them and came across this recipe. They are wonderful. Light and fluffy, sweet, and taste like spice cake. The cinnamon and sugar topping is so good. Yummy. I will be making these again and again.

I would say these are Good Not Great. I used half oil, half butter as well as half milk, half buttermilk. I also left out the nutmeg and added a whole tsp. of cinnamon to the batter. I made sure not to overbake them based on other reviews. They were done in just under 20 minutes and were not too dry. My husband couldn't stop eating them with butter and jelly...

I don't feel so bad now. I am seeing where others do not share the high praise for these muffins. I thought I would be sitting down eating these muffins in one sitting, but after I made them, they were forgettable. It's probably me because my co-worker made them before I did and hers were fabulous. I couldn't stop eating. I may try again one day.

I don't know what went wrong as I followed the recipe exactly, but these muffins were inedible, had to throw them out. I see they got generally good ratings so it may have been user error on my part, but I would not make them again.

I had high hopes for these muffins. They were good but not great. I too added vanilla as one reviewer did and the only spice I used in the batter was cinnamon since I don't care for nutmeg and allspice. I also mixed the cinnamon sugar mixture, along with chopped pecans, into the batter before baking it. Then I drizzled a simple powdered sugar icing over them while warm, which helped the taste temendously. THey were a little dry so next time I will try adding oil as another reviewer did.
