What was I to do with all that applesauce in the fridge? A week ago I made
apple/mixed berry sauce and found your recipe today to
use up the leftover sauce. I added 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg and I think
next time I might try adding some chopped walnuts. Easy and very delicious with a slather of creamed honey! PS the recipe was increased to
make a 1 1/2 pound loaf. We might test this tomorrow morning as French toast. Thanks!
Wow. This was great. I increased the ingredients a bit to make a two pound loaf. Didn't have quite enough applesauce, so I added some homemade cranberry sauce with apples and orange in it. It's an excellent bread, can't wait to make it again! I agree that it could stand a lttle more cinnamon.
Nice recipe. I did have to add more flour and I will add more cinnamon the next time. It was a good recipe that made a nice toast spread with peanut butter.
We enjoyed this one a lot, and it gave me another way to use up my applesauce. It's funny, I was thinking it would be good with raisins before I read the other reviews. Maybe plump up a half cup of raisins in some apple cider or Calvados and throw them in when it beeps? Might have to cut back on the applesauce that way, though. Hmmm. Sounds like another project! Thanks Marie.
The house smelled heavenly while this was baking! The bread was lightly sweet and moist. I agree that raisins would be a nice add in. I used regular white flour instead of the bread flour, as I was out. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly. Thanks, Marie, for a nice recipe.
Very good, nice and light. Good toasted or just with butter. Added a an extra 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon am glad I did. I used my home canned applesauce. This would also be very good with raisins added. Thank you Marie,so very much for the recipe.
