I really liked the flavor and tenderness of these, but I think next time I will roll them out and cut them. The drop shapes cooked a little too unevenly for me, but only because I have trouble not making them too big :) I also used butter instead of shortening, and it worked great. Just remember to cut the salt down a little if you are using salted butter. Thanks for posting!

These were great. They puffed up beautifully and were really tender and soft. I agree with one of the previous reviewers. There was a detectable tang, i think it came from the cream of tartar. Because i know that gives snickerdoodles the same tang. I'll definetly make these again just without the cream of tartar. Oh and i listened to some of the other reviews and only used 1 tsp baking powder and 3 tsp sugar, i kept everything else the same.

I liked these! The texture was great. Very tender. Next time I make these, because I will absolutely make them again, I will use butter instead of shortening, I will increase the sugar by a teaspoon, and I will actually put the biscuits into the oven with some of the honey and butter mixture on them from the beginning and then brush them again after baking. Great recipe!

These were better than the real thing! My son stated it perfectly when he bit into his biscuit "these are a bite of Heaven"!

I really wanted to love these but they were not what I expected. The taste of the biscuits was just kinda off. They almost tasted old or maybe that was just the baking powder. I checked the exp date on all my ingredients and they were all fine. I did half it and it still tasted tangy, weird. They did not bake in the time allotted time. It took almost twice as long. I followed the directions exactly as written. The only thing good about this recipe is the honey butter, which was great!

Sign in or create an accountI'm a little confused. Step 9 says to bring the "remainder" of the butter...but I fail to see where you use any butter earlier in the recipie. Am I just missing something?

Wow. These are a pretty good copycat of the real thing. Mine turned out a bit softer and a bit wetter than Church's biscuits, even after 7 extra minutes in the oven, but the taste is almost spot-on. I also had a problem with the balls of dough starting to flatten while they were in the oven. Can anyone suggest fixes for next time (because there will definitely be a next time!)?

I've never had a Church's honey biscuit, so I can't compare this to theirs, but I can say that this is the most tender, light, and flakey biscuit I have ever had! I was really surprised at how It just melted in your mouth. I will definitely make this again.

I was very pleased with the results of this recipe. Next time I make these, I think I'll try basting them half way through the cooking time (I've heard that it soaks up the honey flavor more this way) and also when they are finished baking. Thanks for a great copycat recipe!

Wow, I think 4 teaspoons of baking powder was definitely overkill. I should have listened to the last review. They looked good, and tasted like they would have been good with less baking powder, which made them...sandy.

These tasted horrible!! It had a strong bitter taste, probably because it had too much baking powder. The texture wasn't bad though.

Delicious....tender, melt in your mouth biscuits. We had these with beef stew tonight and we loved them. I didn't use whole milk...used lactaid fat-free and they were just fine. Thanks Juju Bee, great biscuits!

My son is a huge Church's biscuit fan, so I thought I'd try these. He's sick right now, and was sleeping in, so I took one to his room and woke him up to try it. He bit it and started patting his chest, going "mmmmmm", "mmmmmm". Too funny. I think that's a 5 star. By the way, I tasted one, too. You should be shot. Yum. I could eat the whole recipe.

Very good easy buttery tender biscuits. I made these to go along with Di's fried chicken. My family loved the honey butter and has already requested these again. Will be making a lot with the fall months ahead. Thanks for sharing!
