  1. Combine apples, sugar, vinegar, 2 tablespoons of butter, cinnamon, salt, and cloves in the slow cooker.
  2. Cover and cook LOW 8 hours.
  3. Stir in remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and the vanilla.
  4. Cool completely.
  5. Serve with roasted meats or on toast.
