Tried these last week and they sure disappeared in a hurry!! Next time I might even dare to try them without the chocolate chips!
I couldn't resist making this even though I didn't have any chocolate chips on hand. I substituted one cup of lightly packed brown sugar for the 3/4 cup white sugar. This made it taste just like my favorite pecan pie recipe, only with a quicker cooking time and yummier crust!! We enjoyed this without chocolate chips, but I look forward to adding them next time. Is it 2 tsp. vanilla or 1? I think maybe vanilla was accidently listed twice in this recipe. I used 1 tsp. and it was delicious. Thank you so much for posting this recipe!
I made these late last night for my husband who likes to snack after work. I woke up this morning and half the pan was gone!! I take it he gave his approval!
These were very delicious a chocolately pecan pie in an easy bar. Cut them small they are rich. Taking them to a Super Bowl party I think they go fast, my son who picked the recipe gave them a thumbs up. Thank you for the great recipe.
These were very good, but they should be made in a 9x9 baking dish to thicken them up. Mine kind of fell apart, but that didn't stop us from eating them up. Thanks!
These are fantastic! We made them for a party for the staff and they were gobbled up. Most of the staff are from Cuba and they had never eaten them, well they were devoured! They all asked for the recipe, which I had to translate but it was worth it - to see how very much they appreciated them. Thanks for posting, Diane

I almost feel guilty saying this but, they were a little too chocolatey for me. Don't get me wrong, they were all eaten! Maybe, it's because I used chips instead of chunks. Next time, I'll cut down on the chocolate. I did have to cook them a little longer.
I made these for my father, since he is a huge fan of pecan pie. We awoke the next morning only to find a few tiny bars and crumbs remaining...hmmm, my dearest hubby, you are not scoring points with the in-laws! Thanks Theresa for sharing, they were obviously a hit!
I was just doing a search to see if anyone had posted this recipe yet. This is one of our favorites - the two of us have been known to eat a whole pan in a weekend (which we just did again - oops!). I like these better than pie since the crust is easier to make, and they are easier to cut. I also think it is less fussy to make than pecan pie, which can sometimes be tricky to get timed just right. This also works very well for get togethers since it is easier to serve, and it serves more people. I make these as written, except that I use chocolate chips instead of chunks, and I also sprinkle a few extra chips and whole pecans on top before baking. Yummy!
