OMG is this so, so yummy! BEST apple cake EVER! I found this orig inally in SL "Our Readers Top Rated recipes" Thank you for posting here for all to see. I sprinkled top with pecans and used pecans in place of walnuts in the cake itself (personal pref). The cream cheese topping is a must as well as the refridgeration. Very moist, much like a great carrot cake. I used gala apples and it worked out fine. A forever keeper for my fall sweets list.

This recipe is great!! I have made this 4 times now. Tonight, I baked them in the large muffin pans. I baked at 350 for approx 30 minutes. It made a dozen of the large muffin size cakes. I omitted the pecans but used the yummy frosting. I will continue to use this recipe, thank you!

I made this recipe for our National Night Out Celebration and it was a big hit! Everyone LOVED it!!!! I used a different recipe for the icing and did not put any nuts on top. I think I will make it again without the icing. It was soooo good! I have to print out extra copies of the recipe because everyone wants it!!!!

Another great one mustang mom! I was a little worried because the batter resembled cookie dough batter but once it baked up, PERFECT!! Another favorite in my house. Thanks!!

MustangMom, I'm not surprised your son won 'Best In Show' for this cake; it's delicious, and the frosting is so creamy and luscious! I omitted the pecans, but it was still great without them. We are having visitors over tonight, and they're in for a treat! Thanks for posting your son's prize-winning recipe!

Making this was an absolute waste of time. Thankfully I was forewarned by another review that it'd look like cookie dough instead of cake batter, but because if this flaw, folding the pecans and apples in was all but impossible. Still being hopeful, I did the best I could and spread/plopped it in the baking dish and cooked the cake for 45 minutes, then 15 more, 10 more, and yet another 10 more, but it still wouldn't cook through. I eventually gave up and threw it away as it didn't smell appetizing and showed no signs of cooking to the correct doneness. Beyond disappointed. I bake and cook from scratch almost daily for my family so the outcome wasn't an issue of me being a newbie cook.
