A recipe my grandmother brought with her from England


  1. Mix in order given.
  2. Spoon into 10 cup pudding pan.
  3. Cover with foil and tie with string.
  4. Pour boiling water 1/2 way up steamer and immerce pan.
  5. Steam 3-4 hours.

I made this tonight doubling up the carrot and leaving out the potato. I used margarine instead of suet and I doubt I could even locate suet at the supermarket these days. We loved the pudding as it was healthyish and not heavy. Coming from English parentage this is not quite Xmas pudding as I know it but a very yummy alternative to the heavy dark fruit puddings of my childhood. Don't wait till Christmas to try this out.
