ingredients

  • 4 quarts chokecherries
  • 4 quarts water
  • 6 cups sugar, as below
  • 1 (85 g) package certo pectin

directions

  • Boil water and berries for 1/2 hour.
  • Strain.
  • For every 4 cups of syrup add 6 cups of sugar.
  • Bring to a rolling boil.
  • Add 1 package of Certo.
  • Boil 1 minute more.

  2. I make this too! And I make jelly. Everyone here in North Dakota picks chokecherries! It is a favorite thing to do!I have 5 trees! We have a race with the birds! :) The little buggers eat them green some years! Yikes! I highly recommend this syrup and also the jelly! Jelly
