I usually don't like anything with instant pudding but loved this, my version anyway. I used 8 oz of cream cheese and the whole 7 oz of marshmallow cream in pie mixture and the another whole jar in the meringue topping. The texture was great and still very chocolatey. The other great thing about this is that it's not as caloric as other chocolate pies and works fine with the lowered cal cream cheese.
This was so good and SO RICH. I made a chocolate pastry crust. The texture was thicker than a "silk" pie, but it was SO chocolatey.
Made this for dessert last night and it was loved by all...including 2 of my kids who do not like pie. The pie is sinfully rich without being overly sweet, making it a perfect dessert to serve to guests. And since it is so simple to prepare, that makes it a real plus. Rich, decadent, scrumptious dessert. Very easy to make and yet company worthy. You don't taste the cream cheese in the filling, but it gives it a very creamy, silky texture. Thanks for another great recipe. Recipenapped for Aug. 2010 Aus/NZ Swap.
