    Ingredients:

    For the icing

    Directions:

      For cake: Mix flour and sugar together in a large mixing bowl.

      In saucepan mix water, cocoa, salt, and butter.

      Bring to a boil.
    4. 4
      Pour over flour and sugar.
    5. 5
      Add buttermilk, eggs, soda, and vanilla.
    6. 6
      Mix until blended.
    7. 7
      Pour into large greased cookie sheet.

      Bake in 375° oven for 20 minutes.

      For icing: While cake is cooking bring butter, cocoa, and milk to a boil in a small saucepan.

      Remove from heat; add sugar& vanilla.

      Spread on HOT out of the oven cake.

      In the ingredients listing I don't see "soda" yet it calls for it when you assemble everything together?????? [Editors Note: recipe was edited as a result of this comment 5/13/03]

      This is a yummy cake. Whenever I make this one, I can't help smile in a secret corner watch how everyone wakes up at midight, opens the refrigerator, and eats a piece or two or three, hehe! Great recipe!
