- 1 cup sugar
- 3⁄4 cup whipping cream or 3⁄4 cup evaporated milk
- 1⁄2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 pinch salt
- In saucepan, whick together sugar, whipping cream, cocoa, vanilla and salt until smooth.
- Cook over medium heat stirring for 8-10 minutes or until sauce is thickened and smooth.
- Let cool.
We have been using this very recipe for years. I lost mine (and couldn't for the life of me remember the quantities...simple as they are) and a quick search on the 'zaar and I was rescued....as my daughter has come to expect this at Christmas time. It is also great warm for chocolate crepes.
We found this quite bitter from the cocoa. We wound up mixing another half a recipe made without the cocoa. Not our favorite.-
