  1. After reviewing the reviews on this, guess what I figured out!? You can use a heaping teaspoon, or scant tablespoon of Nutella after the marshmallows and butter are melted together in the bowl. Just stir in the Nutella before adding the rice cereal and voila, gorgeous chocolate Rice Krispies treats without the melted chocolate mess.

  2. Great recipe. I like that this is made in the microwave. It was easy. I used christmas rice krispies. Great taste of chocolate. Thanks tazdevilfan :) Made for all you can cook buffet

  3. Very good recipe! I modified it a bit: I used 3 cups Cocoa Pebbles and 3 cups Rice Krispies and I also made this on this stove, like traditional rice krispy treats. I added the chocolate chips after the butter was melted before I added the marshmallows. It all came together really well! Spray your hands with Pam before adding to pan to cool. Thanks for posting!

  4. 5 stars for taste, but melting the chocolate in the mix made these too crumbly once cooled and hardened, making them messy for kiddos. Also chocolate allover the fingers. Next time I will try them without completely melting the chocolate morsels, leave them in tact so the marshmallow can do its job and stay gooey and less crumble.

  5. I have been making this since I was a little girl. The only difference in the recipe is that we only use 6 oz. of semi-sweet chocolate chips and make it on the stovetop. I want to try the microwave way. Sounds easy!

Tweaks

  1. We use cocoa krispies instead of plain rice krispies. Or fruity pebbles or cocoa pebbles, depending on what the goal is.

  2. I added in 1\2 cup of real butter and a cup of dried sour cherries and mini chocolate chipsvas well as melted marshmallow whip but 7 oz instead of 10 oz. I call it my chocolate cherry surprise for valentines day!
