This pie is perfect for chocolate lovers. You can use unsweetened chocolate because there is already enough sugar. It has become a holiday standard at our house.

My husband's favorite local BBQ place sells chocolate pecan pie for $4 a slice, so he requested that I make him one at home. This is the recipe I chose, and it's BETTER than the BBQ place!! Pecan pies are tricky for me. In order to keep the tops and crusts from burning or over-browning, I loosely "tent" the entire pie with foil and cut a slit in the top for steam to escape. For this recipe, I keep the foil "tent" on the pie for the whole cooking time and it turned-out picture perfect! Also... this recipe fits PERFECTLY into one of those Pet-Ritz deep dish frozen pie shells. Thank you for this recipe, Christine!

This is the recipe my Aunt has been making for years. We ask her to make it for every holiday season. This year she wanted to make something I tried my hand at her pie. It was so easy and delish! I made two, but did in two batches instead of doubling (sometimes it doesn't work out to double and I didn't want my sisters to be mad at me for ruining their pie!) Took one to the fire station on Christmas and it was gobbled up. I did not have any unsweetened baking chocolate so used Recipe #188761 as a sub. Nobody would ever know! Now I think I might have a new job for the holidays!
