These are yummy, chocolatey cookies! They're so easy to make, and they look very elegant, like marble! I used chopped walnuts, and they gave the cookies a nice, crunchy texture. The only change I made was to use unsalted margarine instead of butter, and they turned out perfect! Thanks for another great recipe, Jude!
These cookies were a favorite of my family from the time my mother started making them for Christmas back in the 1950s. The recipe was in a flour sack recipe insert.

Great cookies. Quick and easy to make. I replaced the butter with Smart Balance spread to eliminate the cholesterol. I used peanuts for nuts, but really wanted to use walnuts or almonds, so I guess I will be trying these again soon!
