  • Set oven to 350 degrees.
  • Prepare an 8 x 8-inch foil-lined baking dish, then grease the foil.
  • In a bowl mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and sifted cocoa powder until combined.
  • Using a pastry blender or a fork cut in the shortening until crumbled.
  • Add/stir in egg, 1/2 cup water and vanilla until combined.
  • Spread the mixture into prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for about 35 minutes or until the center is set.
  • Remove from oven then spread with caramel sauce.
  • Sprinkle with marshmallows and then chopped nuts.
  • Return to oven and bake for another 6-8 minutes more.
  • In the microwave melt the mini baking chips with butter until melted and smooth stirring once; drizzle over warm bars.
  • Cool and cut into small squares.

  5. Okay, these brownies are addictive and extremely dangerous to the waistline! But what a way to go! I made them at the weekend and they were inhaled and I am under strict instructions to make them again soon! I described them to my boss's daughter and she has requested them for when her boyfriend comes over from America in a few weeks! They are really really good and I highly recommend this recipe to anyone that is looking for a really special brownie that is sure to please. They were also very easy to put together and the wow factor is definitely there! Thanks!
