  1. Addictive. I use 1/3 milk, 1/3 cup water. Mine takes 2 minutes in the microwave.

  2. Even after adding a couple tablespoons of brown sugar I still thought this was just okay. If I make it again I might add more cocoa powder and use 2% milk instead of water. Or I might just use my hot cocoa mix in place of the cocoa...hmmm. I'm sure it could get to a place where I like it (just not sure if it will still be healthy by the time I'm done!) I should say though that my two little boys did like this! :)

  3. This was fantastic! I used 1/2 cup oats, so increased the ingredients accordingly. Also, I added the vanilla and stevia for sweetness when the oatmeal was finished cooking. I'll Definitely make this again. Thanks for the recipe.

  4. This was an interesting addition to my morning oatmeal adventures. I made it exactly as-is at first, and it was kinda blah (for me). I did what White Rose Child did, adding some brown sugar, which then made it pretty good. I also sliced the banana on top once the oatmeal was done, because hot banana just doesn't "do it" for me. LOL Anything with "monkey" in the title - that's gotta be worth a shot, right? :) I don't know if I'm gonna make this again, but I'm glad I gave it a go. Thanks!

  5. This is really different than my normal oatmeal with berries. It is a nice treat, but don't know if it is something I would do on a regular basis. Thanks so much for posting! Made for I Recommend Tag Game.

Growing up, my mom didn't keep any junk food in the house so if I wanted something sweet I had to find a way to make it (or go to a friend's house)! I loved looking through my mom's recipe books and trying to find recipes that I could make. I baked a lot of home made bread from Betty Crocker's Big Red Book, and every holiday, my mom and I would make pies together from scratch. I didn't actually get interested in cooking main courses until I got married and realized that I had to actually put dinner on the table every night. Just as I was starting to get the hang of it, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in May of 2007. This meant that I had to learn a whole new way of cooking - gluten free. I have accepted this as a new challenge and have fallen even more in love with cooking and baking. There is nothing like the feeling I get when I have success with creating a new recipe! My inspiration usually comes from a craving for something that I can't have because it is not gluten free. I immediately go back to my kitchen and learn how to make it myself! I also focus on creating recipes with all natural ingredients and avoiding artificial or added sugars.
