Chocolate Meringue Cookies

Found this recipe at the Allrecipes web site. I love meringue cookies and this cookie is light and delicious. Would be great on a Christmas cookie tray.

Very easy and cute when finished ( I let the cocoa stay in swirls instead of mixing it all the way in) Might be better with almond flavor instead of vanilla. Tastes like a toasted marshmallow.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 3 egg whites
  • 18 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 12 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 13 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used the mini chocolate chips)


  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. Combine egg whites, cream of tartar and vanilla.
  3. Beat until the whites form soft peaks.
  4. Slowly add sugar; beat until stiff peaks form and mixture becomes glossy.
  5. Fold in cocoa and chocolate chips by hand.
  6. Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet (I used parchment paper).
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Cool on wire rack.
  9. Store in airtight container.
