No eggs or Milk needed!! Easy and yummy I found this on vegweb posted by Sarah , EVERYONE LOVES this recipe.
- 236.59 ml sugar
- 88.74 ml cornstarch
- 59.16 ml cocoa
- 2.46 ml salt
- 29.58 ml oil
- 236.59 ml water
- 2.46 ml vanilla
- Mix sugars, cornstarch, salt, and cocoa in a medium sauce pan.
- Whisk in the water.
- Heat over medium until it gets thick and starts to boil. Boil for 1-2 minutes.
- (Make sure you don't boil too long, or it will set like taffy.)
- Remove from heat and stir in oil and vanilla. Cool and spread on cooled cake.
This is really delicious and all the ingredients are usually on hand. I have used this quite a few times for cupcakes and for birthday cakes. Only recommendation is to stir, stir, stir!! You may even want to sift the dry ingredients first. But never stop stirring!! Thanks for posting!
This made a fantastic frosting, almost like a ganache. I subbed orange extract for some of the vanilla and orange juice for some of the water. It ended up tasting like a Terry's Chocolate Orange! Absolutely brilliant.
Awesome! I don't like really sweet frosting, so this was just perfect. I've made it so many times I've lost count. Thanks for this recipe!
