- 1⁄4 cup melted butter
- 1⁄2 cup cocoa
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄3 cup milk
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 1⁄2 cups confectioners' sugar (sift if lumpy)

- Combine melted butter, cocoa and salt; then add milk and vanilla.
- Mix in sugar in 3 parts.
- Mix until smooth and creamy. Add more sugar to thicken or milk to thin, if needed, for good spreading consistency.
- Frosts 2 - 8 or 9 inch layers or a 13x9 inch cake.
