These have a double dose of chocolate - cocoa in the dough and chocolate chips as well.
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3⁄4 cup milk
- 2 cups flour
- 6 tablespoons cocoa
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat.
- Add vanilla.
- Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa together and add alternately with milk. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Bake at 375 for approximately 12 minutes.
YUM! Just finished making these. Actually I am still baking them since I am baking them in my solar oven and it takes a bit longer. Modifications I made: yogurt instead of milk, added 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. Very cakey and very chocolatey.
I took these to a group of kid's for snack time. They were thoroughly enjoyed! They have now changed the name of them to "Foofy Cookies". Simple to make and taste great. Thanks for sharing!! Made for PAC Spring 2008
