This recipe included in my "Grandma's Wartime Edition" Cookbook.
- 1⁄2 chocolate square (semi-sweet)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon hot water
- 1 cup milk (scalded)
- 1⁄8 teaspoon vanilla
- Break chocolate into pieces.
- Add hot water.
- Cook until smooth.
- Add sugar, stirr until dissolved.
- Add 1 cup scalded milk.
- Flavor with vanilla, (to taste).
- Let cook about 5 minutes in a double boiler.
- May be served with whipped cream.
