ingredients

• Syrup

• 1 3⁄4 cups water
• 1⁄4 cup sugar
• 1⁄4 cup packed brown sugar
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 1 dash salt
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• Dumplings

• 1 cup flour
• 1⁄4 cup sugar
• 1 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1⁄3 cup milk
• 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 1⁄4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 1⁄4 cup chopped pecans

directions

1. Syrup: In small saucepan, combine water, sugar, brown sugar, butter& salt.
2. Bring to boiling.
3. Add vanilla.
4. Keep hot over low heat while mixing dumplings.

6. Preheat oven to 375.
7. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder& salt.
8. Combine milk& oil; add all at once to dry ingredients.
9. Stir just until combined.
10. Stir in chocolate chips& nuts.
11. Pour HOT syrup into an 8"-square baking dish.
12. Drop 12 dumplings into syrup.
13. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes until done.
14. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
