Chocolate Chip Buttercream Frosting

"This is THE frosting! Never have I tried such a great frosting. I serve this on almost any cake I make and the beaters are ALWAYS licked clean. Sooooo good. This makes enough to frost 1 2 layer cake or a 13x9 pan. You have to try this at least once in your lifetime!"

  1. Mmmmm good icing! Used some mini m&ms instead of chocolate chips and used to frost some chocolate cupcakes! Thanks BirdyBaker! :)

  2. This is a great frosting recipe...I had no problem making it very easy, except I used regular size chocolate chips that I already had on hand. Tasted great on top of chocolate cake. The whole family enjoyed the frosting on the cake!! Will use again..Thanks Birdy for posting a great frosting!!

  3. Sorry but I wasn't crazy about this recipe. The icing seemed thin and overly sweet. Maybe it was just me but not one of the better buttercream frosting I have tried.

  4. This recipe is excellent. I used this frosting with a white cake and my husband would call it a dalmation cake because I used the regular sized chocolate chips. It was so cute. However, using the regular size chocolate chips, I was forced to make a second batch of frosting to finish. Using the regular size plus using about 1 cup of them, it really didn't bother me to do so. It was the hit of the BBQ I took it to. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful recipe.
