Recipe by MarthaStewartWanabe
If you're looking for a healthy treat to feed a craving for chocolate ice cream, this might be the recipe for you. How can you go wrong with just three ingredients? This version is made from pureed frozen banana slices and contains no artificial ingredients and no added sugar. You may choose to serve immediately if you're looking for a soft-serve texture or freeze solid as hard "ice cream". (Note: "Preparation Time" includes time required for the banana slices to freeze and for the "ice cream" to freeze solid.)
Directions See How It's Made
- Line two medium cookie sheets with parchment paper or waxed paper.
- Slice bananas cross-wise into 1/4-inch thick slices and arrange in an even layer on lined cookie sheets. Freeze for 1-2 hours or until frozen solid.
- Into a food processor, place frozen banana slices and pulse until mixture resembles course crumbs. Add milk and cocoa powder. Puree until all ingredients are fully incorporated, and the mixture resembles that of soft-serve ice cream.
- If you prefer the texture of soft-serve, serve as-is. If not, place mixture into a separate container and freeze for 3-5 hours or until solid.
