  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Melt chocolate chips over low heat, watching carefully not to scorch.
  3. Remove from heat and cool at room temperature for 5 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, combine corn syrup, eggs, sugar, butter and salt; beat well.
  5. Gradually blend in melted chocolate; beat until smooth.
  6. Stir in chopped almonds.
  7. Pour into unbaked pie shell.
  8. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes.
  9. Cool.
  10. Garnish with whipped cream and almonds, if desired.
