These feel more chinese than Japanese in origin but a lot of modern Japanese food has Chinese influences. These work very well as a side with sushi.

  • 2 tablespoons chili oil
  • 3 red peppers, chopped 2 cm dice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce


  1. Heat oil and fry peppers until starting to soften (3 - 4 mins).
  2. Add the soy and simmer briefly, tip into a serving dish.
