I made the recipe as directed. It came out wonderful. It was like an already cut up chili dog. It was great. My husband and I both loved it and will make it again. Thank you.

I actually did a half and half...I used left over grilled out dogs and hambugers...I didn't mix them because I wasn't sure if my five year old would eat it! I left out the onion and mustard, but they can top it with that if they want and colslaw too! yummy! I've also made it just as a chili cheese burger casserole with leftover burgers and leftover french bread!

Very good! I followed recipe as listed except I mixed the chili, onion, & about 1 cup of cheese together before spreading over buns. Then I baked it & sprinkled with about 2 more cups of cheese during the last 5 mins. After baking, I topped with ranch dressing & chopped green onions. Tasted great with french fries & onion rings. My family gobbled it up! Thanks for the quick, easy, tasty recipe Momma Loon!

I made this one night when I was looking to make something. My husband went nuts and I never really got to have any leftovers cause he ate it all up. I had used some Cheddarwursts that I had and that was really good. Took the other suggestion of using some bread I had as I did not have any buns, and they were right, no one knew the difference. Thanks for the great Idea

This was really good except for a tad salty. My kids loved it and I will definitely be making it again. I didn't have a full package of hot dog buns so I just used what I had, when I make it next I will be sure to use the full package, I think that will help with the saltiness. Thank you for posting a good one!

I've been making this for quite a few years now and my family loves it. It's great to use up leftover homemade chili. When making with canned chili I usually add some chopped onions - YUM. If I don't have buns, I just chunk up some bread - no one knows the difference.

I used leftover chili and left out the mustard. Loved it!

This was good but I did make some changes. I didn't have any hot dog rolls so I used hamburger rolls. I didn't think that 1 can of chili looked like enough. I wanted my hot dogs and rolls covered and it took three cans to do that. I didn't add the onions or mustard as we don't like it. It had a good taste without all the mess of chili dogs.

Sorry, this was just ok for me. Not bad at all, just didn't trip my trigger. Super quick though!

I made this for PAC Spring 2007. I loved that this was so simple to throw together, cheap to make, and that it's much less messy to deal with than real chili dogs. I actually preferred it as reheated leftovers, because I think the flavors had a better chance to meld after chilling overnight (not that it wasn't good hot right out of the pan, just better once "aged"). I served this with some ketchup on top (must have ketchup with hot dogs) and dill pickles and potato chips on the side. This would be really over the top with a batch of homemade chili instead of the canned variety, but that will be a future weekend project. Good stuff, thanks for posting!

Mmmmm...this was quite tasty! My kids thought it was only "okay", but dh and I thought it was fab. I used wheat buns, low-fat hot dogs, lowfat chili, and lowfat cheese. Delish and easy!

What a great idea - this tasted just like a chili dog. The buns didn't get mushy at all. Thanks for posting!

This was an excellent lunch. I have made it twice once with the buns and once without (at the DH suggestion). We like it better with the buns included. Thanks for the recipe.

This was just ok for us. Would have been better for us to leave out the mustard and the cheese.

I made this for dinner last week. It was AWESOME! DH was skeptical about the buns, thinking it would be soggy. But it wasn't, it was perfect!! I did add another can of chili and extra onions. What a fun dish to make for a change! Thanks Momma Loon!

My Jr Hi grandson is on a football team and since his Mom and his best friend's Mom really can't affored the concession stand prices for game-time treats for themselves and their kids I make food for mini-tailgate parties for them at each game. I made this delicious and easy casserole this past weekend. EVERYONE was crazy over it! Many had 2 helpings and want me to bring it again. To go with it I made Lemonade Cupcakes (#95878) and the combination of the two was outstanding. This chili dog recipe was very easy to make; not expensive and delicious. What more can you ask for??? Thanks for sharing this recipe I will make over and over again!!

Just like eating a chili-cheese dog.....but with a fork and without the mess! I agree, this is great for kids, but adults, too! This would be a great thing to make for a picnic or the guys' superbowl party. Thanx for sharing. I'll be making this again!

Absolutely excellent!! I was gonna say really kid-friendly, but I have to admit that I loved this one too! I used Skyline chili (which is comparable to Gold Star chili), which is sort of sweet, with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg...The only kind my kids will eat! Thank you so much! DELISH! A new staple in our household! No leftovers!!! :)
