We enjoyed this but felt it wasn't as good as other chili recipes we've tried, and it could have used more spice. If I make it again, I'd add more spices like cayenne pepper plus some cumin, oregano, cinnamon, etc. I think using generic chili powder played a part in the blandness. Some sharp cheddar on top takes it up a notch!

Wonderful chili. My dh & I enjoyed it very much. I didn't have any ground beef so I used a mixture of ground vension and ground pork, that I added to the sirlion steak. What flavor and texture this has. You can really taste the chili...I also used a good quality habanero and chipolte sauces ...yumm. I put this in my crockpot on low and it cooked all afternoon. How easy was that? I will make this again and again. My neighbor wants to give you 5*+++, it truly was enjoyed by all, served with soda bread scones. Thanks for sharing.

This was a great chili recipe. It may be June here, but it is still nippy so this hit the spot. Will definitely make again. Made for ZWT5.

We loved this. We enjoy heat and this is almost too hot for us. I made as posted and used the optional beans. I also let it simmer the full two hours. Great recipe. Thanks for posting. :)

A VERY NICE CREATION !! We all enjoyed it. It was a nice dinner last night. I left out the celery, but added the beans. The combo of ground chuck and sirloin was terrific, and very flavorful. A definate keeper. Made for Potluck tag.

Very good, easily satisfying, and wonderfully savory chili. I chose to not use beans, and put into the crockpot to slowly cook all the essence of this dish together. I didn't change anything, except for my bowl of chili, I chose more hot sauce, as my personal preference to really pack a wallop. The celery had a very delicate flavor and found it quite nice mixed with the combination of 2 meats. I used both ground chuck and sirloin sliced into one inch cubes. Very tasty indeed, Breezermom. Made for *Everyday is a Holiday* January 2009.

Our guests today loved this.. I added the beans but left out the celery ( one guest eats amost everything on the planet except celery) It was a wonderful meaty chili and the compliment flowed. I did use cubed pork and minced pork instead of beef, simply because the ground beef in my usual supermarket has not been wonderful of late. When more shops are open after New Year I will be making this again with beef. Please see my Rating System: 5 excellent stars for a meaty chili that we will certainly be making often. Thanks!

Very good chili. My husband and I have different views on chili - I think all chili should have beans and he thinks beans belong no where near chili. So, what do I do? I add pureed pinto beans (dry, soaked and cooked) to the chili and he can't even tell. He really likes the two kinds of meat. I actually make two pots of chili now. One as listed (cut in half) and another that is a veggie version. In my veggie version, I still puree beans (with crushed tomatoes or diced chili-seasoned) and add kidney and chili beans. Very good! Thanks for posting.

Great chili! I loved the mix of ground meat and regular beef. This really added to the texture of the chili. The spices were just right. Everyone at my house loved it...there were no leftovers, unfortunately. Thanks for the fabulous recipe.
