Chili and Lime Grilled Mangoes

This is a recipe I found years ago in the LA times...It's really good with a heavy BBQ meal...refreshing and low fat... Adopted 8/2006.

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Peel mangoes, cut along flat side of seed into 2 pieces, Set aside.
  2. Grill mangoes on greased grill over glowing coals, 2 to 3 minutes per side (please do not neglect to grease the grill with oil, or the fruit will stick).
  3. Remove to platter and sprinkle with lime juice, chili powder and salt.
  4. Serve at room temperature.

I followed the recipe exactly as written for the 4th of July, but my guests barely ate it. I thought it was DIFFERENT, but not anything I'd try again. The chili powder took over the mango taste.

I LOVE these! They may actually be my new favorite thing! I made these in my george forman grill. I cooked them for about 6 min and it wasn't quite enough. I'll go about 10 min next time. I also used cayanne instead of chili powder becasue I misread the directions but it turned out fantastic. Try'll like them. Thanks Ducky!
