    Ingredients:

    Yield:

    • 16 dried red chile pods, stems removed
    • 1 pinch salt

    Directions:

    1. 1
      Place 2-3 pods in a blender container and finely grind them on low speed.
    2. 2
      Add more pods until the lower portion of the jar is full. Empty container and continue to process until all pods are ground. Mix in salt to taste.

      Wonderful! I used half ancho chilies and half guajillo's. Made for an interesting mix! Love that I can MAKE my own chili powder- controlling what is in that bottle! No preserv's or extras and I get to control the salt too! Yes!

      This took a bit of doing but I finally got this to a nice powder. I tried it first in the food processor but it wouldn't work, so I put it in the blender but no go. So I got out the coffee grinder and it worked well. This will work good for soups, and in recipes calling for red peppers. Thanks Rita!
