  1. heat oil in pot, add onions and garlic to soften.
  2. add remaining vegetables,except corn, stirring.
  3. add broth, water, spices, bring to boil and then lower to simmer for 1 hr.
  4. pour half of soup into blender, until smooth, then return to pot.
  5. add corn and chicken,cook on low 15 minutes,until cooked through.
  6. season with salt& pepper.
  7. if soup is too thick you can add extra water before serving.

This is a thick hearty chowder. It has a very good flavor. I browned the chicken before adding to the pot, and used all low fat chicken broth instead of water. It was great with some thick bread and a small salad.
