I would give this recipe 20 stars if I could!! My dogs LOVE these treats. I tried to give them a store bought treat and they snubbed it and pointed to the liver treats! Thank you for this recipe!!!!
I have not met a dog that has not loved these cookies! To make sweet potato ones, I substituted the livers, garlic powder and broth for sweet potato (pureed), cinnamon, and water. Thank you for a great recipe!
My Bali dogs (7 of them) absolutely adore these biscuits. I make a double batch every two days - I can barely keep up supply. My dogs will do anything (and I mean anything) for these biscuits!
My GSD loves these and definitely gives them 5 stars. The cat preferred them before they were cooked, lol. Made for PAC Spring 2008
Well, if my Miniature Schnauzer's response is any indication, I'd say that Valentino rates these biscuits AT LEAST 5 stars! I don't usually cook for him, so this venture was a treat for me, as well! This recipe went together very easily, & I took the suggestion & froze the liver puree in 1/2 cup portions! Thanks much for this recipe! [Made & reviewed for one of my invitees to AUS/NZ Recipe Swap, Mar 08]
Since I didn't have the cornmeal, I looked on line for substitutes. Oats was on the list. So, I used oats instead of cornmeal, and beef liver, because I know my dog likes it, instead of chicken liver. My dog is the fussiest dog in the world, but loves liver, so I thought I'd give this a try. He sniffed the cookie and turned away. I broke off a piece, thinking he might try it, but still nothing. It's been sitting on the floor for over an hour. Nothing. I sealed up the rest and will be giving them away? Color me disappointed.
My dogs love these. I had to make a few changes for what I had on hand. Used buttermilk powder and beef liver. Eagerly devoured.
