I made 1/2 recipe for dinner today just to give it a try and I now regret I only made a half. I used cracked wheat instead of whole. When dish was almost ready I thought it lacked a flavor and added fried onions,diced chili,cilantro and mint to the dish and mixed it well. That made a huge difference. My husband also liked it. I thought it could also be used without any meat as a vegetarian alternative. Very good for you too:lentils,wheat,can't go wrong. Thank you.
This was a huge hit! Something tasted sweet in it, though, and we couldn't figure out what. We thought maybe some caramelizing action was taking place on the bottom of the pot perhaps giving a certain sweet flavor? But still so delicious! Will make again and soon!
