This was excellent comfort food! Delicious and easy to make. I followed the recipe as stated, but I used whole raw chicken breast. It cooked on low for 7 hours. I shredded the chicken and added frozen peas near the end of cooking. This will be in the regular rotation!
This was very good. Comfort food! I cut up uncooked chicken and let it cook in the slow cooker, which worked great. I also added some peas and carrots. The flavor is great and I love the biscuits. Mine actually browned and that was wonderful! The only reason I'm rating this lower is because mine came out more like a soup (which my husband does not like). I ended up mixing some more flour with water and adding it to the finished product. Thank you for posting a nice comfort food recipe!
This was so delightful and the aroma was heavenly! I couldn't wait for it to be done and taste it! I used 2 boxes of Perdue grilled chicken breast and the Pillsbury Grand biscuits (which were 8 count). I also added frozen mixed vegetables to make it a complete meal. Even though I stirred the biscuits in, they rose to the top. When it was finished, I had to separate them and mix them in again. This was very rich and full of flavor. I will definitely be enjoying this again. Made for Culinary Quest 2014.
I followed the directions exactly and thought this was very tasty. Not quite as good as I remember my grandmother's, but that would not be possible. Better than Cracker Barrel though. Thanks for posting it.
This was very delicious and very easy to make. I did not use the chicken bouillion, just added a splash of chicken broth when the mixture got a little too thick. Instead of cooking chicken I used a package of /trader Joe's Just Chicken white meat chicken 12 ounce package and low sodium cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soups. I also added a package of frozen green peas 1 hour before the meal was completed..
This was excellent. I used all chicken broth instead of water. will be making again soon. thanks
Very nice comfort food that is extremely easy to prepare! I used fat free soups and added frozen peas, canned carrots and sauted onions to the mix. Was just what the family needed at the end of a January day! Mine was a little watery, maybe because of the fat free soups, but I left the lid off of the crockpot for the last half hour and that took care of it. Thanks!
Made half the recipe in my 1 1/2 qt crock, used 1 can cream of chicken, 4 oz can chunk chicken breast, added 8 oz can peas and carrots, 5 count can buttermilk biscuits. Very easy comfort food. Thanks for posting breezermom. Made for your win in Football Pool Week 15.
Well, this could never replace my regular chicken and dumplings recipe, nor did I find it comparable to "Grandma's"--but it is a very good crock pot recipe. Very quick and easy recipe for those days when you just need some comfort food. I added a little extra water and was glad I did because the biscuits absorbed a lot of the liquid. I would definitely make this recipe again.
When I was a kid, my grandmother/aunt always made me chicken and dumplings on my birthday, and although I don't think this is exactly like their homemade dumplings it came pretty close!! I was so impressed with the taste, especially considering how extremely easy it was. I used only cream of chicken soup (I hate mushrooms) and only 1 tsp chicken bouillon. Only thing I'll do differently next time is cut the recipe in half because the leftovers aren't quite as good and there's only 2 of us. Thanks so much for this recipe!!
