I will make this for others in my household and they always love it...never any leftovers.
I hate broccoli with a passion so here's a variation I make for myself:
Substitute fresh button mushrooms for the broccoli and instead of salad dressing/mayo I use low fat sour cream or Neufchatel/cream cheese instead. And of course I always double the cheddar cheese!
All in all, very tasty!
Simple, quick and very tasty! I cook for two and this was a very easy recipe to reduce. I will ad a tad more lemon juice next time and there will definitely be a next time.
My Mom made this since I was a child, also, and this is almost her exact recipe. She added a tsp. of thyme, and that was it. Now, my children enjoy this childhood favorite as much as I did. We consider this our comfort food....loaded with great memories.
Hubby rated this an 8/10!! Woo Hoo! BUT I made quite a few changes. I used canned veggie chicken, chicken & mushroom soup, and mexican blend cheese. I defrosted some broccoli and put all together and threw in the fridge to bake later. Used extra curry powder, but next time, will use even more! :O) Thanks so much for sharing!! :O)
I made a wonderful mistake... I used Italian dressing in place of salad dressing (Miracle Whip). I also used fresh broccoli and broccoli normandy which I steamed fresh. I did omit the curry, for fear the kids would not eat it. It was a big hit, the kids ate the whole thing!!!
My mother has also been making this recipe since I was younger. I asked for it every year on my birthday. We never used breadcrumbs, however, and I've always said the more curry the better. Delicious.
Delicious.....used a combination of bread crumbs and grated parmesan and Italian Herbs for the breadcrumb topping. I made the mistake of using fresh broccoli and not cooking or parboiling it prior, and it was a little too crisp for my liking. However, was still a great meal and a keeper recipe.
This was a good recipe; however, my husband does not care for condensed soups. I made my own "soup" out of butter, cooked flour, and chicken broth. Seasoned it a bit with poultry seasoning, and voila... creamed chicken "soup".
I prepared this in the morning so it would be ready to go in the oven when I got home from work. This is fabulous. I didn't cook my broccoli. I just used frozen broccoli and placed it in the bottom of my casserole dish. It turned out great. Served it with baked yams and dinner rolls. MMMM....good.
