This was so delicious! My hubby said it's better than restaurant Indian food. Even my kids loved it. I made a 3-4 times the amount of sauce for a triple batch of chicken: 3 lbs chicken breast (this was a LOT of chicken w/ 3Tbs curry powder, next time I'd do half chicken and half beans and add a head of cooked cauliflower right into the sauce at the end since the sauce seems to beg for some creamy soft cauliflower), 6 oz can of tomato paste, 4 cups of chicken broth, 3 onions, 5 Tbs minced garlic (we love garlic), no cayenne pepper, 2/3 c. regular raisins, wish I had more cilantro since it added a nice bright flavor, the plain nonfat yogurt added a delicious creaminess to it and everyone reached for more yogurt to mix-in. Flouring the chicken in the plastic bag was really worth the extra step, the chicken stayed very moist with slight breading-like interesting texture (used white whole wheat flour). Delicious! Did take me an hour to make but I made a huge batch, for us it's enough for 2 full meals which is just perfect. Served with brown jasmine rice from Trader Joe's and peas. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

I had never tried Indian food before, but my husband loves it. I made this for dinner the other night and we both thought it was delicious! The only change i made was to omit the raisins. I made some basmati rice and homemade naan to go with it. Was surprised by how hot it was, but still enjoyed it. He's already asking me to make it again.
Since I originally posted almost a year ago, my husband asks me to make this on a weekly basis. I've played around with the amount of cayenne pepper, and usually cut it almost in half. I've also been to quite a few Indian restaurants since making this that first time, and so far this is tastier than any restaurant curry I've had.

Delicious! After reading through several recipes for chicken curry, I decided to try this one based on what I already had in the pantry. The modifications I made were to omit the raisins, and to double the cayenne and curry powder as other reviewers suggested. Additionally, I didn't have yogurt on hand so I substituted sour cream and it worked just fine. DH and I ate this dish served over rice and both agree that it was a success. Thanks for such a great recipe!

This is a fantastic recipe! I have never had curry chicken before but I was feeling adventurous the other day and decided to try it. I'm so glad I did!
I, like many others omitted the raisins and yogurt. I also doubled the cayenne pepper and curry because I really wanted some kick. The only disappointment was using minute rice. I will have to search for a more complementary side dish.
This was great!!! I did double the pepper and the curry powder. I left out the raisins but I think next time I will add sliced almonds.

Terrific. Not the best I have ever had, but the best takes a very long time, and for a quicky - this is just fabulous! Made it up in about 20 minutes. Used all hot curry, next time will mix 1/2 sweet curry and 1/2 hot. Also added fresh mushrooms, which was a lovely addition. Would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys curry. This is simple, fast and really very good. Thanks! :]

Thank you Sue for adding such a great recipe. My husband is the curry making king in our house and he loved this one. He was surprised that I knew how to make such a great curry - he has no idea how quick it was to make! ;)

I tried it and it was delicious!! I made it exactly as is. I love the amount heat and will increase the amount of curry next time. I didn't top with yogurt or cilantro - personal taste. But it's definitely a keeper! Thanks for posting!

Wow, this is really good. I wasn't sure about a curry dish but its so good. I made just as written except used regular raisins (what I had on hand). We loved it, it was just the right amount of heat. Thank you for introducing me to a new flavor.

It was excellent , I made it for myself & my 2 sons & we all really enjoyed it even Daniel ( my younger son ) who can be quite critical . It was also really easy to make , but I`m very slow in the kitchen so it did take longer than 20 minutes with all the prep

We love this. I DO NOT like raisins, but they really add to this dish. This is one of the very few dishes that I don't "tweak" as I make it.

Definitely a 5 star recipe is what my husband and I both said. I won't worry about making more complicated ones than this ever again. Notes-- I used raisins and sliced almonds, both good additions. I doubled the sauce for a kilo of thighs, less after they were cleaned and chopped. I didn't use all of the tomato sauce in the doubled recipe and I'm glad. I did put in a couple of TBLSP of coconut powder. I used half a container of very light creme fraiche in place of the yogurt and only a small amount of coriander, mixed in. Restaurant quality, maybe better than I've had in a restaurant and certainly cheaper. Keeper for sure.

This is tastier than a lot of the Indian restaurant curries I have had. I left out the raisins and yogurt and did not use the whole amount of taste paste, due to personal preferences, but that didn't matter. This dish was still delish!!

Delicious! I also put a tsp of ginger in the flour mixture, and I added two tsps of ground cumin with the curry. Very easy, and very tasty!

New to Indian food...tried this (left out raisins). I'm a believer now. DH and DS raved about it. Served with basmati rice and homemade naan. Thanks!

This was nearly perfect. I wasn't sure about the raisins and I added them anyway because, hey, I like raisins. They were okay, but this would fare just as well without them. Other than that, this was exactly the recipe I was looking for! I didn't double the cayenne and curry like a lot of reviewers did, but I did put in 50% more than was called for and it was still very spicy.
