Got the same recipe from Disney too! We all loved it so my mom asked for the recipe. They took her email and by the time we got back from our trip it was in her inbox. I have to admit - I think they left a "secret" ingredient out though. We still love this soup but always add more seasonings and hot sauce to it trying to get that "same" taste that we had at Disney. Maybe they do add a little Disney magic to it.
I made this for dinner tonight and my husband and I agreed that the original recipe was very bland. To make it for us I added garlic, salt, pepper, Tony's and Butter. I left out the red bell peppers because we do not like them. This was very easy to put together and very tasty after the changes I made. I almost did not rate the recipe but it deserved to be rated on ease of preparation and versatility. After the changes I made my husband, who does not normally eat any milk based soups, ate 2 large bowls.
This was Soooo good. I had to make it with turkey stock and turkey instead of chicken, so i was a bit worried that it wouldnt be the same. But No it was Yummy! rave reviews from all. My mother in Law said "wow you are such a good cook". Thanks so much for the recipe and making me look good!! Oh- I doubled the recipe and froze some. It freezes well, but if you are gonna freeze it, make sure the potatoes stay firm after you cook them or they will get mushy when thawing.
This soup is delicious!! I liked the fact that it goes together very quickly and easily with minimal effort. I made this exactly as written except I added some salt and pepper to taste, and I used only 1 tsp. of hot sauce. All I had was habanero hot sauce and I think 2 tsp. would have been too much for my gringo family. My daughter loves corn chowder and I'm always on the lookout for a good recipe. This is definitely a keeper...she loved it, actually we all did!! This soup was gone in a hurry and everyone was asking for more. Next time, I will definitely double the recipe. I am so glad that I chose to make this wonderful recipe for PAC Fall '06. Thank you for sharing meltedcountry!!
