  1. Soak beans overnight; simmer 1 1/2 hrs.
  2. (or just use canned beans!) Shape sausage into balls.
  3. Brown in skillet.
  4. Transfer to crock pot.
  5. Brown chicken in drippings.
  6. Transfer to crock pot.
  7. Add carrot, celery, and onion.
  8. Drain beans.
  9. Mix with remaining ingredients.
  10. Pour over meat and vegetables.
  11. Cover; cook on low for 8 hrs.

A good recipe here, and a lovely combination of flavours, but I would do a few things differently next time. The one thing that stuck out for me was the salt. There's salt in most brands of tomato juice and stock cubes, so I didn't feel the extra spoonful was needed. Also, I could have done with more carrots and celery as well as a bit more sauce. That said, the ingredients here work very well together and the dish is easy to make. One I'd serve again, with a few adjustments.

Excellent recipe and real comfort food. I served this with homemade french bread for a meal that DH loved. The only change I will make next time is fewer beans....I used the 1 1/2 lb option and felt it was just too much. Overall a keeper. Thanks for sharing!
