  • In a skillet with a lid, saute onions with oil and soy sauce. When they begin to brown, push them to the center and add the chicken pieces to the outside of the pan, brown them on the first side.
  • When you flip them over push them to the center and add the rice to the outside of the pan, cover with the water (or stock) and push the carrot pieces into the rice so that they are at least partially covered by the water (or stock).
  • Bring to boil, cover and simmer for 40 minutes.

  1. We had this for supper tonight. It was delicious. Super easy to make. I browned the onions and chicken, placed them in a casserole dish, added the other ingredients and then baked it. Thanks for a great new dish!

  2. I'm not typically a fan of dark meat, but my husband is. So we tried this recipe and it was great! The only change I made was I added a few cloves of garlic pressed, and I used brown rice because that's what I had on hand. I also used 2 cups chicken stock and 2 cups water, again because of what I had on hand. We loved it - and it was very easy!!
