This is really good, tasty and easy :) Tastes like you made homemade noodles too.. The family loves it.
- Put your whole chicken in a dutch oven with 4 chicken bouillion cubes and cover with enough water to cover the chicken and cook until tender, usually an hour.
- Take the chicken out and cut up.
- Meanwhile add your 2 packages of rheames egg noodles in the pot and add 4 more chicken bouillion cubes.
- Add chicken and stir frequently for around 45 minutes -- Enjoy!
This is certainly heartland home cooking. DD (age 15) has wanted to learn to make chicken and noodles so I started her with this basic recipe. She was quite proud of her accomplishment and her dad and brothers gobbled it up! We might add a quartered onion, a carrot and a stalk of celery to the pot while the chicken cooks - to lend their flavor but to be discarded with the chicken carcass - but it's certainly yummy as written! This was a good dish but next time I will add some seasonings and carrots. I did add peas this time. I liked how the noodles cooked in the chicken broth. I also liked the simplicity of this recipe. It's also inexpensive to make if you get the chicken on sale. Thanks faith58!
