This is the first chowder I've made, and we really enjoyed it! I accidentally forgot the salt - note to self: be sure to remember it next time. Instead of heavy whipping cream, I made a medium thick roux with low-fat milk; it seemed to work well. Good fall flavors, perfect for a chilly autumn evening.

This was excellent! I thought I wasn't going to like it as it was cooking (I never used cumin before), but I was wrong. It tastes soooo good. The only thing I did different was leave out the green chiles (personal preference). I wish I would've thought to add garlic, it would've went well in this soup.

I thought this was pretty good even though dh wasn't too pleased with it. He just doesn't like me trying out new recipes for the most part. He wants me to just stay with the same ole same ole. Well, I just keep trying out new stuff and I thought this was really good. I don't know if I'll make it again for just him and I but I will probably make it again for company or potluck. Thanks.

Wow what a fantastic soup, I really would love to rate this much more than 5 stars! The only changes I made was I increased the cumin and chili powder and added in a couple teaspoons dried chili flakes, and 3 tablespoons fresh minced garlic when I sauteed the onions, I also increased the butter. This soup is absolutely delicious! thanks so much Asha!...Kitten:)
