This is a recipe that can be made from your pantry or food storage. It's based off of the Chicken a-la-King from Cookin' with Home Storage. I changed many of the amounts as they were abnormally large.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 14 cup textured vegetable protein, chicken
  • 18 cup dehydrated onion
  • 18 cup dehydrated mushroom
  • 1 tablespoon dehydrated green pepper
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon turmeric
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 34 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter powder
  • 1 12 teaspoons bouillon
  • 3 tablespoons powdered milk

Directions

  1. Rehydrate TVP and reconstitute vegetables according to directions. Heat oil in skillet and saute TVP and vegetables. Add flour, margarine powder, and all spices. Stir until vegetables are well covered. Add water and powdered milk and mix well. Bring to a boil and cook one minute. Serve over rice.
