These are "honest to goodness" Chicago style Hot Dogs----------------------Definitely NEVER any ketchup!!! Good recipe
So good. I used fresh jalapenos, cause that's all I had pepper-wise. I don't think I can have a plain hot dog ever again. Thank you!
I had given up eating hot dogs until I had one of these babies. The sweet and savory is irresistible.
Delicious, authentic awesome! we fried the hot dogs in a cast iron skillet and skipped the sport peppers. YUM!
all I can say is ... AWESOME!! from chicago area here and this is it!! thanks for the great post!
Sounds great ! If everyone loves them, how come no photos ? Gonna try them real soon.
I live in Chicagoland again after moving away for 21 years. I didn't know how much I missed Chicago dogs until I moved back. The best part of living here is that, the Vienna Hot Dog factory has a tent sale every summer. My sister and I get a case of hot dogs and polish sausage to split between us. Another plus is that we can get the bright green relish at the local supermarket. These hot dogs are heaven in a bun. Good idea to post the recipe!
You bet! These are the best ever! Especially when tomatoes are nice and ripe. Just seems like it makes a Summer Day pop right out. Yum. And I agree no ketchup on this Dog Thanks for writing up this recipe for everyone. It's a Classic.
Now this is the way to make a hot dog! For best results both the hot dogs and buns should be steamed. Then drag it through the garden! You can add a couple of slices of cucumber, as well (but don't leave any of the other things out). And never, never any ketchup! Thanks for posting.
