Editing to say that I used two eggs, since the coconut/nut mixture seemed too stiff--worked very well.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 14 cup butter
  • 34 cup sugar, divided
  • 12 cup flour
  • 18 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 egg
  • 12 cup nuts, chopped (your favorite)
  • 12 cup coconut

Directions

  1. Preheat in 350 degree oven.
  2. Cream butter and 1/4 cup sugar till light and fluffy.
  3. Stir in 1/2 cup flour.
  4. Put in greased 8 X 8"pan and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  5. (You may have to press it out to a thin layer.) Meanwhile, mix remaining 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tbsps.
  6. flour, salt, vanilla, egg, nuts and coconut.
  7. Spread evenly over baked dough.
  8. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or till golden.
  9. While warm, cut into squares.
