  1. A neighbor brought these to a cookie exchange and they were delicious. Her words "It's Martha, it's a lot of work, but sometimes it's worth it." I was so excited to see that we had the recipe on Recipezaar. She was exactly right. These are the perfect coffee or dessert cookie for the holidays. Just the right mix of chocolate and gingerbread. The only thing we changed was to dust the cookies in superfine sugar instead of granulated sugar. The finer sugar makes the cookies just sparkle mysteriously, instead of looking like they were dusted in sugar. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

  2. I agree with the other reviewers. There are a lot of steps, but if you follow them exactly you will get a perfectly tender, complex cookie that are wonderful by themselves or with a cup of tea or coffee. I was expecting a great cookie, and what I got exceeded my expectations. Great for the holidays!

  3. My supervisor brought these to a holiday cookie exchange and they were so good I had to beg her for the recipe! When I made them they definitely were a lot of work but soooooo worth it! Her recipe called for 1/2 cup molasses but I think that made them too soft and will try them again with 1/4 cup. I also *highly* recommend these cookies! Yum!

  4. This is the same recipe that Martha Stewart has on her website. These cookies take time and effort but the result is excellent. Try experimenting with different types of chocolate.

I am college student in South Carolina with a passion for food. I recently discovered my passion for cooking, and found that whether or not the dish is for me, I love to cook for others as well. In fact the majority of what I cook is not for me, but for my family. I live at the beach, and am a lover of all foods. I enjoy surfing, fishing, outdoor activities, and cooking. I hope that I can be an asset to this site.
