Cherry Vanilla Oatmeal

"From foodnetwork.com Copyright Ellie Krieger, All rights reserved I like to use the old fashioned oats that take 30 minutes to cook. I usually make a lot and then separate it into servings and grab them for breakfasts throughout the week."

 1. This is a great new way for our family to enjoy oatmeal. I made this tonight as part of our "brinner" (Breakfast for Dinner) weekly rotation. I doubled this and the outcome was good, so upping this recipe works. I really loved it, but my husband and kids thought it needed sugar. Also, I actually should have tripled this recipe for 5 people. The servings are very small. For those two reasons I gave this recipe 4 stars. Thanks for the new take on a breakfast staple stuff.llc.

 2. What a great way to start ones morning. This oatmeal is so creamy, fruity and tasty. YUM!
I used canned cherries and cooked the oatmeal in part of their juice. That turned out very pink and nice. :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this recipe with us, Chef!
Made and reviewed for Think Pink October 2012.

 3. This was yummy! Now I have a new flavor to add to my morning oatmeal rotation. Scaled this back to one portion and made it in the microwave instead of on top of the stove. Made for Think Pink Tag October 2010.

 4. I used chopped walnuts with this also. It's AWESOME!

 5. I did this with quick cooking oats in the microwave but left out the salt, cooked eveything together, using cherry plum jam & served with vanilla yoghurt for a tasty & satisfying brekky.

I joined this site because I am trying my best to loose weight and more importantly maintain a healthy weight. I discovered one way to do that is to cook at home. I have control over portions, ingredients, and flavor; not to mention the money saved. As for personal fun, etc. I do believe shopping is first followed by traveling.
